Good evening Patriot Parents,
It is a bitter sweet week for me as I will be going on maternity leave this Thursday. I will be induced as well on Thursday (pending hospital availability at New Hanover). We will keep you posted after the delivery of our baby girl! As many of you may know, I am going to be delivering a few weeks early and our precious girl will spend an extended period of time in the NICU before we are able to adjust in our own home with her as she has a birth defect known as Gastroschisis. Huge thank you to all who have kept us and care providers in your thoughts and prayers, as well as, showering us with your unconditional love! I can't begin to explain how much you and your children have touched me this school year. Ms. Mobley will be the Long Term Substitute for the remainder of the school year. I do anticipate to stop in once or twice before the school year is up as several students are working toward an incentive, plus I'll want to see my other 30+ babies before they go on to 5th grade!

Hello Patriot Families,
What a beautiful weekend we have had! I hope you all had an opportunity to enjoy a little fun in the sun! 😊 This week is Read Across America Week. Flyers went home last week with the schedule along with a story board that students are encouraged to complete. You will see the daily schedule of themes listed under updated schedule.
Last week students received rubrics pertaining to their choice of Mythology Project. Students have the opportunity to conduct research in the classroom necessary to their project. However, the constructing of the project will be done at home. Should your child need any necessary materials, I may have some items in the classroom that I can provide :). Projects are due March 5th. If your child has lost their rubric, they are all uploaded on TEAMS--> ELA --> Classwork --> Mythology Project Choices.
Also, Progress reports went home on Friday, I know that their is no line to sign on the back this time but if you could please sign and send back, I would greatly appreciate it. If there any questions or comments pertaining to these, feel free to write on the sheet as well.

Note with homework, I realized that I missed a week of math homework so the reading and math weeks do not align for this week and last week. They should be aligned after this week. Pregnancy brain these days are really kickin good! Apologies for any confusions.

Good evening families,
Two weeks in and I am already amazed at what I have already learned about your children! Last week the students received a weekly math and reading homework. This week they will receive a very similar format. Homework will be collected on Friday. Currently our students are using one of their composition notebooks as a weekly planner. This is temporary as we as a fourth grade team are in the process of discussing alternatives, such as ways of purchasing planners for our fourth grade students, or using a monthly calendar that would be kept in their "Take Home" folder. This week our fourth grade team will continue this discussion, and I will be sure to let you know when we make a change to their organization system. For now, weekly homework assignments and notes will be written in their planner composition notebook. If you could check it sometime throughout the week and sign or initial it, I would greatly appreciate it! Next week we will begin our novel study with The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I highly recommend this book for your child's personal bookshelf! I am a few novels shy of a classroom set. With that being said, if anyone has the chance to check it out at any public library or is willing to purchase one for your child, here are a few places worth checking:

If you haven't had a chance to pay school fees, please do so at your earliest convenience. The fees are $25 for laptop usage, $5 instructional fee, $5 recorder and $1 art fee. Good evening Patriot families,
I hope everyone was able to get a day of rest! I know I sure enjoyed the day off spending time with my family!
This past week we have learned a lot about our fellow classmates, the teacher, and our learning environment. Now it's time to put our thinking caps into action! Tomorrow is C day. This will be our first half of our WAVE cycle. Please make sure your children have tennis shoes for PE. I will be utilizing Bloomz as a form of communication this week. If you have not signed up, please do so. If you are unsure of how to, don't hesitate to ask!
